At my recent marketing mastermind meeting I casually mentioned that I had joined Twitter. The result was instantaneous, with questions like…

“What’s Twitter?”

“How do you use it?”

” I’ve heard of it… but wasn’t sure what it was…”

“Can it help my business?”

I thought it was just fun stuff…”

I got at least two people to join Twitter and I am going to enjoy Problogger’s post.

Though I’d heard about Twitter for a long time I resisted joining it because I didn’t want yet another thing to update… my blog (now blogs) and my very active Facebook statuses were more than enough.  So why did I join?

In order of appearance…

  1. When I published my  Special Report on Social Media Copywriting it was tweeted about … I felt honoured. I wasn’t on Twitter at that time and so the tweeter told me via email.  But I began to see the potential for Twitter on making building new relationships – and getting my message out there
  2. Another reader offered to tweet something in one of my newsletters.  At that time this blog was still a mere thought struggling to surface through my list of priority things to do…what another blog??
  3. I found out I could tweet my articles and thought – hey, what about blog posts?
  4. I thought it was time to find out about Twitter for myself.  Just like I did with Facebook a year ago.
  5. I wanted to  see if the nay-sayers had a point ( the ones who say Twitter – and for that matter most Social Media tools and Social networking are a complete waste of time). For some reason, each to his/her own isn’t enough for this group – the tools and their users are all a waste of time.

So, coming across this down to earth, practical post is pretty good. I’ve already got some  tips that will enhance my use of Twitter as well as help my clients in their quest for understanding of Social Networking tools.

If  you’re new to Twitter or a seasoned pro – and especially if you’re a blogger -  I think there’s much you can gain from the Problogger’s insight.

Oh, and if you’re on Twitter I invite you to follow me.
