I found myself interested in a particular electronic product they were selling. I read the very compelling sales letter and liked what I read. The product was a little on the pricey side, but there was a $20 discount if you purchased today. OK, I thought, I’m interested enough to buy. The material looked like something I’d find valuable. There was a guarantee. And I had a project coming up for which this info could be quite useful… I could peruse over the weekend. I was quite excited. Alas, it was not to last.

There’s a saying that if you’re not moving forward, you’re actually moving backwards. Standing still isn’t an option. The saying came to mind today while I wondered why business to business marketers are still dragging their feet when it comes to Social Media Marketing.

Marketing is essential – if you don’t let your market know how you can help them, you’re doing them a disservice. Most businesses get that they need to tell people about about their services. The problem is they go about it with a product- focused approach – which then pops up in all their advertising, marketing and communication and makes prospects yawn and ask “so what?” (Or, “So what’s in it for me?”).
