I have launched a podcast! I had a few new things I wanted to do for 2018. One of them was to do a podcast. Another was to re-launch my video channel and start using video more. I’ve actually toyed around with the idea of doing a podcast for quite some time, and so I decided to start with that. It’s funny how, sometimes you can be thinking about something and lo and behold something comes along as a help… kind of.
I happened to like someone’s podcast on Twitter and mentioned that while I wanted to start I wasn’t ready to invest in a ton of new equipment which it seemed was needed. And, of course… time. Could I fit a podcast in even though I wanted to do one? Then there was what software to download, and would I have time to be editing? And besides, what would I talk about? Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea after all (and other such back-out thoughts). However I got a couple of suggestions, one was Audacity, which I have downloaded and looked at but not actually used yet. I think I have to learn it.
The other was Anchor for which all I needed was… my phone!? Cool! I decided to try it out and was immediately hooked by how easy it is to use and the great community of people who have created some really inspiring and motivational podcasts. These are created by ordinary people and I love their insights… some really got me thinking. What a fabulous way to use technology.
So I ignored my initial fears and broadcast my first podcast and didn’t tell anyone. Then the next day I did another, and the next day another. I have a few there now. I suppose you could say that I have launched my own podcast and radio station. Hey if it’s good enough for a recommendation from Gary Vaynerchuk, for whom I have a ton of admiration, it’s good enough for me!
Right now I talk about topics that either people have asked me questions about or that I myself am working through as a photo artist or things I am finding challenging (along with many of us I am sure). I’m finding that as I talk about these topics new ways of addressing them come to my mind as well as new ideas. And I love that I can include my favourite music tracks from my Spotify playlist and add them to my station. That is pretty cool, because I love to create art to music! And I absolutely love Anchor.
Listen to my podcast on Consistency below…
To listen in to more than one episode on my station you need to subscribe to my station…. I hope you will do so as I would love to hear from you and love you to share my station, easy enough to do by clicking the share link on the image. Even if you don’t have Anchor you can call in to my station and leave a comment or question and maybe… I will answer it in a future episode. I am looking forward to doing some “live” radio shows with people as well. I have to say I am more excited about this than I thought I would be (even though it’s still early days). It fits in to my very busy schedule in a non-intrusive way and is a way to talk about my art and my mission and put my voice out there. It’s also a great start to potentially vloging (maybe) later. Who knows? I may stick with podcasting. I generally keep my episodes to around five minutes and a bit random rather than scripted… and with a little planning that works for me right now.
So please dial in to my podcast give me a shout out, say hi and share if you find something useful or think others might find something useful.
