I wrote about the Trees of Lights in Commerce Court in my previous post. The tree stand at the perimeters of Commerce Court – North, South, East (where there are two in the Courtyard) and West, guarding the entrances, rather like the “One Tree.” This photograph is of the Tree of Light on the corner of King and Bay streets. I took this shot because I was struck by the Tree of Lights shining brightly against the backdrop of the downtown skyscrapers as dusk fell. Being December 30th, between Christmas and New Year, it was less busy downtown than it would normally have been. Many people were still on holiday, and those were about were hurrying to get out of the bitter cold which meant I had an uninterrupted view for a little longer than usual so I could quickly take my shot of the Tree of Lights. I love taking photos of downtown Toronto at dusk and at night however so I was very happy to make my latest winter evening art print on one of the last days of 2013. Enjoy and happy new year!
