But sometimes the picture creates itself – the moment presents itself to a person whom just happens to be holding a camera at the time. Streetcar on Lakeshore, my recent art photograph, was one of those moments.

Toronto Ice Storm 2013
Toronto’s Ice Storm 2013 did more than damage trees… the weight of the ice also broke power and telephone lines and left thousands of people without electricity on one of the coldest nights of the year. We were fortunate to have power throughout, as crews work 24 hours to restore power. The ice storm made for some beautiful photography as long as I was very careful in getting my shots. It was treacherously slippery underfoot and the last thing I wanted was to slip and fall. I was very happy to get these shots.
Night Falls, Winter Photography
Ask anyone in Toronto if they remember what they were doing on February 8th 2013 and it’s very likely they will recall what we’ve come to term “Toronto’s Great Snowstorm.” Snow isn’t unusual in Toronto of course, even though somehow it manages to be big news when it arrives. This winter photographic art print is called Night Falls. I called it that as night had fallen on the snow.
Deceptive Imagery
The installation is known as the “curtain wall” mural or the “Flatiron” mural and is actually mounted on a huge steel armature fixed to the rear of the building. Many people mistakenly believe that the Toronto version of the Flatiron is a copy of the iconic New York Flatiron building which is located at 175 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The truth is the Toronto building was completed first, in 1892, a full ten years before its Big Apple counterpart.
